How to play

Each of you hides four cats around the house, a 7×7 grid with rows A to G and columns 1 to 7: Longcat (4 squares), Loaf (3), Box Cat (3) and Kitten (2). Cats lie straight, across or down. They can touch, but they can’t overlap.

Then take turns calling one square of the other’s house. A near thing is a “Mrrp?” (a hit), and nothing there is an “Empty box” (a miss). Turns always swap, even after a hit. Call every square of a cat and you’ve found it: Found you! The first to find all four of the other’s cats wins.

On one phone, pass it across between turns. A cover comes up in between, so nobody peeks: “Eyes shut. No peeking!”

Not on the same phone? Challenge a friend: hide your cats, send them a short code or link, and see how many calls they need. Or play a friend online with Game Center.

Questions

Do I need iPhone Duo?

No. Tuck & Seek plays on any iPhone with iOS 26 or later. On iPhone Duo, the fold is the board: hold it like a book and their house is on one screen, yours on the other. In pass and play, close it mid-turn and the cover comes up.

What’s the Daily Peek?

One board a day, the same for everyone. It changes at midnight where you are. Find all four cats in as few calls as you can and see how you did against the day’s par: “5 under par”, “On par”, or just the day’s par if it took more. Your streak, your best score and how often you beat par are kept on your phone.

What’s the peek?

Once a day, if you’re stuck, you can peek at any 3×3 patch of the Daily Peek board. It shows the squares in it you haven’t called yet, and any cat in there counts towards finding it. A peek adds 7 to your score, and your result shows it as 🔍 +7.

What do the squares in a shared result mean?

Each row is one cat you found, a square for each call. The squares never give away where a cat was hiding. The Daily Peek page explains it all.

Can I turn the reminder off?

It’s off until you turn it on. You’ll find it in the app’s Settings, under Daily reminder, with a time you choose, and you can switch it off there whenever you like.

What’s free, and what does Tuck & Seek Plus add?

Cat Nap (the cats), pass and play, the Easy computer, the whole Daily Peek and challenges are free, always, with no ads. Every day you also get a game against the Normal computer and an online game to host.

Tuck & Seek Plus is one membership: by the month, by the year, or for life with one purchase. It includes every theme pack, now and as new ones arrive, online games and the Normal computer as often as you like, and the Daily Peek archive, where you can play any past day with its own par. Archive games never count towards the leaderboard or your streak.

What are theme packs?

Cat Nap is free. Other themes are small packs, each a whole new world to hide in, each bought once and yours to keep. Tuck & Seek Plus includes them all. You can take a look at every one before you buy. A pack changes how the game looks, sounds and talks, never how it plays: the Daily Peek and challenges are the same in every theme.

Does my friend need to pay to play online?

No. Friends who join your game never pay. Anyone can host one online game a day for free, and Tuck & Seek Plus hosts as many as you like. When one of you has Plus, that phone hosts, so the other’s free game is kept for later.

How do I restore my purchases?

Tap Restore Purchases in the app’s Settings, or Restore in the shop or on the Tuck & Seek Plus screen. It brings back Tuck & Seek Plus and any theme packs bought with the same Apple Account.

How do I cancel or change a subscription?

Apple looks after subscriptions. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Tuck & Seek. A plan renews until you cancel it, and if it ends, any theme packs you bought on their own stay yours. The terms of use have the details.

How does Game Center work with Tuck & Seek?

Online games, the Daily Peek leaderboard and achievements use Apple’s Game Center. If you’re not signed in, the app tells you how. Everything else works without it: pass and play, the computer, the Daily Peek and challenges.

Do you collect my data?

No. Tuck & Seek has no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and we don’t run any servers. The privacy policy has the details.

Does it work with big text, VoiceOver and Reduce Motion?

Yes, on every screen. On screens with the board, text grows to about twice its usual size, so the squares stay big enough to tap. VoiceOver reads each square by its name and what’s there, like “C5, hit”, and hits, misses and finds look different by shape as well as colour.
